Kahles was founded in 1898. In 1908 the Mignon scope was produced and is still used by hunters.
Kahles introduced the Helia series scopes with a wide field of view. In 1939 the company was producing for the German Army.

The Kahles company developed one of the first variable power scopes in 1949. In 1960 they invented and produced waterproof scopes by utilizing O-rings ( a Kahles patent).

The company started to implement multi coating on all air to glass surfaces in 1972 allowing more than 90% light transmission, which has become a standard for fine riflescopes.

On the 100 yera anniversary of the Kahles company theyintroduced the Helia Compact scopes with high optical performance and a very wide field of view.

A new line of binoculars were introduced in 2000 reestablished the long tradition of precision optical performance.

The Helia CS line of scopes introduced the multi zero elevation adjustments, a new era in ballistic drop compensation.

In 2014 the company introduced the parallax wheel in the elevation turret.
